2010 ASCF Grants


Inter-provincial:

  1. Atlantic Salmon Federation
    Evaluating riverine, estuarine, and coastal habitat use, migration and survival of outmigrating Atlantic salmon smolts.
    Amount: $13,000

  2. Nova Scotia Salmon Association
    Evaluating riverine, estuarine, and coastal habitat use, migration and survival of outmigrating Atlantic salmon smolts.
    Amount: $28,000

  3. Gespe'gewaq Mi'Gmaq Resource Council
    Engaging the youth in salmon enhancement activities.
    Amount: $24,000

New Brunswick:

  1. Miramichi Watershed Management Committee
    Eradication of smallmouth bass from Miramichi Lake through mechanical means.
    Amount: $34,000

  2. Canadian Rivers Institute (Wilbur)
    Investigating and indentifying thermal refugia for Atlantic salmon in the Cains River and the Little Southwest Miramichi River.
    Amount: $8,000

  3. Nepisiguit Salmon Association
    Processing of +200000 eyes salmon eggs into the river, electroseining juveniles to determine distribution, and collection of other habitat data.
    Amount: $8,000

Newfoundland & Labrador:

  1. Environment Resources Management Association
    Restoration on the tributaries of the Exploits River, including removing complete and partial obstructions.
    Amount: $14,500

  2. Salmonid Council of Newfoundland and Labrador
    To deliver Hook and Release Techniques Course in Newfoundland.
    Amount: $3,500

  3. Miawpukek First Nation
    Conducting a radio telemetry investigation in order to enhance knowledge pertaining to the distribution and utilization of salmon.
    Amount: $12,300

  4. Salmonid Preservation Association of NL (SPAWN)
    Clear up a blockage on the Upper Humber Brook for Atlantic salmon with the use of excavator etc.
    Recommended Amount: $12,300

  5. Renews River Conservation Association
    Salmon population assessment project
    Amount: $21,000

Nova Scotia:

  1. Nova Scotia Salmon Association
    West River Sheet Harbour Project - lime doser support.
    Recommended Amount: $10,000

  2. Mabou & District Community Development Association
    Shea's Brook Restoration Project, Phase 2.
    Amount: $3,000

  3. Sackville Rivers Association
    Administer Fish Friends and River Rangers Youth Education Program
    Amount: $5,000

  4. Unama'ki Institute of Natural Resources
    Location and Consolidation for Existing data on Atlantic salmon and its habitat in Cape Breton and Initiation of Co-learning techniques for stewardship of salmon by local communities
    Amount: $10,000

  5. Cumberland County River Enhancement Association
    Little River Watershed Restoration Project in the amount of $15,000.00.
    Amount: $15,000

  6. Habitat Unlimited
    Restoration of Brierly Brook with installation of 16 structures, replanting riparian zone
    Amount: $7,000

Prince Edward Island:

  1. Souris and Area Branch of the PEI Wildlife Federation
    Enhancement project on the upper reaches of 4 rivers, beaver dam removal, digger logs installed etc.
    Amount: $24,200

  2. Morell River Management Co-Operative
    Fish passage restoration in 4 watersheds around St. Peters Bay through removal of beaver dams.
    Amount: $14,171

  3. Central Queens Branch of the PEI Wildlife Federation
    Habitat development in the west river by Sediment control and mitigation, installing digger logs, redd mapping, fish passage strategy, training people.
    Amount: $20,000.00

  4. Trout Unlimited Prince County Chapter
    Trout River Enhancement Project. Enhancement on 3 tributaries, beaver dam and debris removal, installation of brush mats. Amount: $6829.00

Quebec:

  1. Société de gestion des rivières de Gaspé Inc.
    Détermination de l'impact de la présence d'un embâcle sur la montaison et l'état physique des saumons de la rivière Saint-Jean (Gaspé)
    Montant : 35 000 $

  2. Organisme de bassin versant Matapedia Restigouche
    Évaluation de l'impact de la présence de l'algue Dydimo dans le bassin versant de la rivière Restigouche
    Montant : 40 000 $ pendant 2 ans, 20 000 $ par an.
